A big week of chocolate awards!

There are two main awards in the craft chocolate industry, and both have announced winners this week!

The Academy of Chocolate was founded in 2005 by five of Britain’s leading chocolate professionals. This is the 9th year of their awards, which are judged by a panel of international journalists, chefs and chocolate experts. The judging is based on appearance, depth of aroma, flavour, length and complexity of flavour.  This week, the Academy of Chocolate announced their 2017 winners and we are delighted that among the worthy winners are many of the chocolates we’ve brought you over the last few months!

Closer to home, the International Chocolate Awards also announced the Grand Jury Finalists of their 2017 Asia-Pacific Competition this week. We were so excited to see a number of Australian bars, as well as other bars we’ve featured in our subscription boxes, as finalists. These awards are fully independent and aim to support companies producing and working with fine chocolate. This is the first time the Asia-Pacific results have been announced separately – acknowledging the huge growth in craft chocolate in the region. Best of luck to these finalists for the final Asia-Pacific and then world awards judging.

To see more about the specific bars that won each award, check out the award websites (Academy of Chocolate and International Chocolate Awards). We’ve listed below the award winning chocolate makers who have featured in our subscription boxes. We also have a number of award winning bars and chocolate makers lined up for boxes in the next few months, but we’re keeping them a secret for now!
