Costa Esmeraldas is a single estate cacao farm owned by the Salazar family on the north-wester coast of Ecuador. The Daniel O’Doherty helped transform this old plantation into Ecuador’s premier cacao production. The agro-forestry approach is used oranges, limes, lemons, plantain, bananas, guayaba, and papaya, grown in and around the cacao to reduce erosion. Their new fermentation and drying facility has enabled even better quality of cacao than before! Look for notes of: lemon, bread, cherries, balsamic vinegar, brownies & green bananas.
