Composition: Cacao beans + cacao butter – 72%, sugar – 28%

Origin details: Cacao was introduced to Madagascar by French colonialists in the 19th century. The country produces nearly 3,000 tons of beans a year. Most of the trees are concentrated in the Sambirano Valley in the northwest, where soil and climate are ideal for growing high quality cacao. This chocolate bar is made from organic cacao beans from Bejofo Estate, owned and managed by Bertil Akesson, who is also makes bean-to-bar chocolate using his own cacao beans.

Elisia saw her husband making chocolate in his bean to bar business and decided to try it for herself. She was determined to put her own, healthy twist on it, making chocolate that is simple, minimally processed and that she’s be happy to give her children.She loves to meet customers at local farmers markets to show them how she makes her chocolate, and educate them on the subtle differences in the flavours and characteristics of cocoa that grows in different parts of the world.
