Tissa Auliani and Irvan Helmi are siblings on a mission to put Indonesian chocolate back on the map. Since 2013, Piiltin Cocao have been crafting chocolate from local cacao beans, aiming to replicate the creations being made with the beans by some of the worlds famous chocolate makers. They have grown sustainably through building strong partnerships with cacao farmers.
They make bars with with cacao from six distinct regions of Indonesia: Aceh, Bali, East Java, Flores, Kalimantan and Papua. Each has it’s own characteristics – the breadth of Indonesia creates huge variety in climate, conditions and cacao genetics.
Exciting projects brought them to the first (bean to bar) Australian Chocolate Festival in 2024. Anyone who visited the festival tried their chocolate along with other chocolate makers from Indonesia – they weren’t able to sell bar to people at the festival but we’re excited to now bring Pipiltin Cocao to Australia as the first in the next wave of Indonesian Chocolate.
